Manchester United works strategically and empathetically within Greater Manchester, the UK and Internationally using football and the 'brand' to influence young people to engage in physical activity to reach their potential. We collectively address social and educational factors across our programs to encourage young people to reach their individual goals.

Encompassed as a nucleus to this focus is the need for our organisation to be person centred, focusing on a child's wellbeing and safety.

We have seen with the introduction of our safeguarding strategy with a focus on staff training and engagement with young people; the underpinning factor of success for us is that young people feel confidence in our staff, feel safe when they are in our care and as a result we have seen an increase in disclosures from young people. These range from low level concerns which can be managed by the staff and young person's family to high level abuse situations where we have worked closely with statutory agencies to support our young people through difficult times, giving them a sense of normality.
