More about Coaching Corps
We believe there is no life lesson that sports can't teach and we ground our volunteers in youth development principles to teach them.
The children we serve are those who receive the least of everything they need to forge healthy and successful lives. For these kids, playing outside is too scary; schools and afterschool programs don’t have the money to invest in physical activity; and families can’t afford the exorbitant fees required to play on private sports teams.
Coaching Corps’ evidence-based model uses sports to intentionally interrupt the conditions of poverty by equipping coaches with youth development principles that sharpen both athletic skills and life skills. This in turn opens doors to brighter futures for the children that are historically left behind—futures filled with strong, healthy bodies and the emotional and social health needed to not just survive life, but to thrive in it.
