More about Classroom Champions
Our Purpose
Students and school systems in low socioeconomic, inner-city urban, remote access/rural and/or Aboriginal environments face a range of challenges including lower educational achievement, lack of community role models, and inadequate technology. Our focus is to tackle these challenges head on by connecting students with Olympic and Paralympic mentors who role model the process of excellence, creating continuous learning opportunities for teachers and providing classrooms with new technology.
Our Model
Over 5 years Classroom Champions has created a first of its kind model that empowers students, teachers, mentors and communities. Every student participating in Classroom Champions builds a unique relationship with an Olympian or Paralympian mentor through a series of year-long interactions and teacher-led activities through the use of technology and in-person visits. Using sport as a platform for demonstrating what excellence looks like, and the time, energy, planning, and perseverance it takes to achieve.
