More about Umzingisi YDF Cirriculum
The curriculum has a large focus on HIV / AIDS awareness but also addresses other topics such as resiliency, decision making, self esteem and gender equality. The uniqueness of the curriculum is in the way it is delivered. It is not a classroom based curriculum and is delivered in an interactive, sporty manner using games, sport and fun exercises to impart knowledge but also emote response, debate and discussion from the children it is delivered to. The program combines energetic fun activities with key current issues.
The reason why we focus so heavily on HIV AIDS is because it has become an uncontrollable disease that is affecting millions of our citizens, by teaching the children the dangers of HIV AIDS and how it is transferred, we are trying our best to stem the tide of new infections and promote a healthier South Africa as well as a better future for our youth. By offering sports coaching as well, we offer the children the opportunity to experience new sports and to improve both their health and skills through the coaching.
