More about Promoting social inclusion through Circus
Phare Ponleu Selpak was created in 1994 by nine former refugees from the Khmer Rouge. It was initially a drawing school but soon the founders realized that these activities were not efficiently channelling the energy of the most volatile, damaged and vulnerable children. Therefore a Circus School was created in 1998 in order to rehabilitate marginalized and neglected children and give them a sense of belonging.
Circus activities requires life-skills such as respect, trust, humbleness and tolerance essential to the community life and to their future success.
