The Mogalakwena Football for Hope Centre - Limpopo is a youth friendly, free access sports centre. The project has been implementing sports, arts and culture services and activities directed towards social cohesion and improving the lives of youth, women and people with disabilites. It is an initiative coordinated by the South African Red Cross Society (SARCS) Limpopo to achieve positive social change through public health education and football development for community development as well as humanitarian assistance for those in disadvantaged and impoverished communities. The centre is situated in Phola Park, a community at the rise of teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS infections, alcohol and drug abuse and crime, the Mogalakwena football for Hope Centre - Limpopo aims to play a role in the fight against the social ills through the promotion of youth development services. The sporting activities are combined with social development activities such as football skills development, life skills training leadership workshops, reacreational activities and indigenous games. This assists to move young people out of the streets and engage them in activities which will reduce social challenges.
