More about Football meets Culture
The children of our groups come from social disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of them don’t speak German fluently and therefore have a lot of problems at school. For two years they get two hours of football training and two hours of additional lessons each week and once a month a cultural event, like visiting a museum or going to the theatre. During the Football training, they learn to follow rules and to play in a team. And teambuilding is also essential for their work in class and their social behaviour. They learn better and have more fun to learn. The teachers in the additional lessons also use football themes to teach reading, writing and calculating – and to learn the German language.
