More about Football for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Football for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (F4WASH) program contributes to improved access to water and sanitation by school children and thus provides a combination of hygiene education, safe water and sanitation facilities which give school children fundamental WASH services and an opportunity to nurture skills that they are likely to maintain as adults.
Football games and competitions for school football clubs, education of children on life-skills/ good WASH behavior by trained Coaches, development of IEC materials, use of media in public education and social media and websites will increase inspirations, commitment, awareness and enhance sustainability.
Notably, football is the most popular sport on the globe and is often treated as elite activity in development campaigns. In this program football is used as the life-skill tool for behavioral change in WASH behavior amongst children in primary schools and as a mechanism to sustain the WASH education messages i.e. (hygiene education & awareness creation) and support community outreach.
