More about Football for Social Opportunity League
This program provides a platform of work and exchange for 17 grassroots organizations located in one of the poorest areas of what is known as Great Buenos Aires. This League interconnects organizations working with children and youth as a network. Through this platform, we combine soccer with education, health prevention actions and the institutional strengthening of the League members. One of the main problems this program address is social exclusion (15 years of structural poverty in the area), violence, lack of healthy and safe spaces for poor children and youth to the practice of sports.
This program provides spaces for sports in 17 different neighborhoods for more than 8.000 children, youth and adults (male and female). The program has three components: i) sports, with soccer matches every weekend and weekly trainings; ii) Education, with the training of participants (in Communications, Management, Coaching) and technical assistance to provide skills to create sustainability strategies, ii) Health prevention, providing basic medical assistance for children and youth from 7 to 18 years old, through the installation of medical tents in different neighborhoods, due in the area where this program works there are only one public hospital for 500,000 people.
