More about Dolphins Cycling Challenge
As the signature health initiative of the Miami Dolphins Foundation, the Dolphins Cycling Challenge (DCC) is dedicated to improving people’s lives through the financial support of innovative cancer research at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, through a bike ride, 5k run/walk and other family-friendly events. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 114,040 new cancer cases in the state of Florida in 2015. However, there is only one NCI designated cancer center in the state, located in Central Florida. To help South Florida and Sylvester attain NCI designation, the Miami Dolphins formed the DCC to offer fans and their families a way to fight back, while aiding Sylvester and innovative cancer research. Through annual events featuring a bike ride and 5K, DCC has donated $11.5 million in just five years.100% of which has gone to programs selected by Sylvester leadership as critical research areas. In just five short years, the DCC has grown into the NFL’s largest fundraising event. With multiple ways to participate – cycling, running, walking, volunteering or donating – every person in the community can do their part to tackle cancer!
