“Sport has the power to inspire” – stated Nelson Mandela. We foster innovation in sport (following Global Goal 9, in particular 9.C/9.5) and we involve the youth in a technological innovation challenge, which is pivotal in creating a “Silicon Valley of Sport Tech”, an open platform for dialogue/reflection on the applications of modern technologies to the world of football and contemporary society.
We have engaged the leadership of all European institutions (UEFA, FIFA, European Commission/Parliament, Football Associations…) in a common dialogue on football/sport and innovation/technologies: a Vice-President of UEFA, the Group Leader Football Quality Programme at FIFA, the leadership of the Italian Football Association and European Football Association participated in the first edition of our hackathon.
After the hackathon, the best ideas enter into an incubation program and the hackathon is integrated into a regional/global strategy for creating the “Silicon Valley of Sport Tech”, an eco-system of innovation where sport and tech are integrated into a co-development program thanks to OKKAM, the University, regional administrative bodies and international business partners.
