SLUM SOCCER PROMOTE PEACE

NGO, Slum Soccer explore what peace means to their participants

Slum Soccer has been tirelessly working towards the development of the underprivileged and less fortunate. In the build up to IDSDP Slum Soccer have been doing community outreach programmes in schools across Nagpur, India. These programmes and games have worked with children teaching them about conflict resolution and peace in the context of the diversity of society.

Working with the children, Slum Soccer have asked each participant to present their interpretation of what “peace” means to them. Today, they are displaying this artwork whilst hosting a show match – the Harmony Cup – where dignitaries from the city will speak about the topic of peace and sport.

Slum Soccer is an organisation which uses football as a vehicle that transcends race, religion, language and gender to bring about a change in the lives of street dwellers. Slum Soccer provide long term solutions to combat rife homelessness and improve living standards within underprivileged areas.
