PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MOBILE APP

The Player Development Project App allows players to choose key football role models who they identify with

Sport can play a vital role in young people’s lives, helping them develop both physically and mentally, increasing academic participation and social awareness and thereby limiting the opportunity for anti-social behavior to develop. Sport also offers children a vehicle for internalising values that will help them shape the way they live their lives. Young football (soccer) players are often being placed in overly competitive environments at increasingly younger ages. This adds stress to what should be a play experience and can threaten their passion for football, or cause them to stop playing all together.

The Player Development Project puts the focus back on player engagement, and valuing informal play. Recent research suggests that this can be where creativity and intrinsic motivation are maximised. Fun, social engagement, creativity and the sheer pleasure of PLAY are cornerstone Player Development Project values.

The Player Development Project App allows players to choose key football role models who they identify with. Players are encouraged to focus their own development on their mentor’s technical skills, sporting conduct and attitude to the game. The Mentor Modeling function, provides a ‘gamified’ and engaging platform for young people to learn more about who they are, and who they want to become developing the whole person.

The Player Development Project App permits and encourages players to redefine what football success means to them, by introducing new ways of approaching their development. Rather than focusing on the game score, players are encouraged to focus on individual and team goals.

“The Player Development Project app is changing the way players and parents think about football. We’re going to have a generation of young players who are psychologically prepared for high level football, and life.”

-Sean Douglas, Advanced Coaching Manager, Football Federation Australia

“The most important thing is a willingness to learn. It’s the philosophy that ‘the result is not important’.”

- Xavi Hernandez on FC Barcelona’s Academy.

This allows young players to feel a crucial sense of competence that does not rely on the outcome of the game to be fulfilled.

The philosophy that drives PDP confirms every young football player’s fundamental right to engage in sport and play, and to do so for the right reasons. Player Development Project provides the autonomous, self-directed framework that guides and encourages players to continue playing the sports they love and to share their progress socially with other like-minded individuals.

The Player Development Project App cleverly and simply provides a free platform that delivers sophisticated tools enabling them to set, measure, respond, reflect and ultimately share their game progress, no matter at what level they start or how skilled they are.

The outcome will be a greater self-awareness and higher levels of achievement, confidence and personal satisfaction.

Key Features of the App:

  •         Players can model their football heroes, national or international
  •         Track real game stats
  •         Log ‘playing’ hours that captures all areas of football play
