More about Memphis Grizzlies & Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation
Community outreach is driven by the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation and the Grizzlies Community Investment department, distinct in approach but complimentary in implementation. The primary initiatives target youth age 6-18 which provide tools for young people to succeed in school, value their health and prepare for their future.
- Grizzlies Read to Achieve. Many children struggle to read, lack encouragement at home and ultimately fall behind their peers, leading to disengagement in school. This program challenges elementary school students to read books and offers rewards to students, classrooms and schools for raising reading activity.
- Grizzlies TEAM UP Youth Mentoring. Many young people are caught in the cycle of inter-generational poverty and have few positive adult role models. This strategic community-wide initiative gives at-risk youth access to adult mentors and helps youth build strong social connections and life-skill.
- Grizzlies Healthy Home Court. Childhood obesity is rampant in Memphis, TN. This program provides vast resources, and empowers families to stay active together and motivates high school students to eat breakfast each morning.
Moreover, Grizzlies players, coaches and corporate partners invest time, talent and financial resources to further the reach of these initiatives.
