ITTF Foundation Opens its Dream Building Fund Aligned with SDGs

October 25, 2019

On the October 17 International Day of the Eradication of Poverty, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Foundation opened its annual Dream Building Fund to support local actors using sport as a tool for development.

Since its inception lin 2018, the Dream Building Fund has supported six projects across four continents in Ecuador, France, Kenya, the Netherlands, the United States of America and Uganda. Dream Building projects aim to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), build stronger communities, promote equality and provide opportunities for those most in need.

In order to be eligible, projects must aim to achieve a targeted UN SDG using table tennis as a vehicle and have a clearly defined theory of change. Applicants must be a registered non-profit sport, social or table tennis organisation, with the project leader acting as the point of contact who is also responsible for reporting.

Monitoring & evaluation requirements are in place to ensure smooth implementation, regular follow-up of each project and to optimise the support provided by the ITTF Foundation.

Each project will last from two to three years and have a clear exit strategy defined at the end of its first year.

Some description

For nearly 20 years, the ITTF has been supporting and implementing humanitarian, peace, reconciliation and community projects. The ITTF Foundation, through the Dream Building programme, is now dedicated to the theme of 'Solidarity through Table Tennis'.

The 2019 cycle included 74 applications, with projects requesting support for a range of SDGs, including: Good health and wellbeing, Quality education, No poverty, Reduced inequality and Gender equality as the most prominent.

Applications are open through 10th November.
