Marcus Agius
Marcus Agius has extensive City and commercial experience. He joined Lazard in London in 1972 becoming Chairman of Lazard London in 2001 and Deputy Chairman of Lazard LLC in 2002. Mr Agius joined the Board of BAA plc in 1995 and became Chairman in 2002. He resigned from both Lazard and BAA plc in 2006 and became Group Chairman of Barclays PLC on 1st January 2007.
On 1st December 2006 he was appointed Senior Independent Director of the BBC. Marcus holds an MA from Cambridge University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a Trustee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and is Chairman of the Kew Foundation and Friends.
