Beyond Sport

From September 27-29, prior to the beginning of the Beyond Sport Summit 2010, the Beyond Sport Awards Shortlist and some specially selected guests will take part in a number of sessions designed to help the programmes grow and become more sustainable.

The Pre-Summit sessions will include:

• A mentoring reception involving the Beyond Sport Awards Shortlist 2010 and the Awards 2009 Winners.
• Practical skill-set workshops on topics within communications, leadership, innovation, support, and partnerships
• Visits to Chicago-based sports programmes
• Specially designed networking activities

In addition to these sessions, an array of symposia will be held with the aim to fulfil one of the Beyond Sport Summit's major objectives - creating actual change in political policy.

These symposia will address sport's role in key themes: girls' education, conflict resolution, and urban communities. Influential government leaders and decision-makers will gather for these symposia in an effort to encourage the use of sport as a developmental tool.
