The Foundation
The Beyond Sport Foundation has two aims. To find and fund the people and projects that best fulfil Beyond Sport's beliefs about the power of sport to create social change.
Tony Blair, Chairman of the Beyond Sport Ambassadors, describes it like this: "Sport's got this power, we've got to use it to do good and the purpose of Beyond Sport is to reward, back and multiply those projects that are doing that…"
The Foundation is setting the bar deliberately high in terms of what it will reward. But it believes that the emergence of sport as a global force, the rise to prominence of the concept of social responsibility and the arrival of a new dynamic breed of social entrepreneurs makes its aims entirely achievable.
These achievements will be celebrated annually at the Beyond Sport Awards. Winning is not simply a matter of kudos. It is actually a springboard. It secures precious financial backing from the Foundation, to sustain and expand. It brings projects to the attention of a global audience.
