  • Overview of Project:
Kutumb is committed to peace-building as a preventive to gender, ethnic and religious violence, rampant in the city slums. GoL Redux aims to enable underprivileged children living on the streets and in slums around the city to play together, combining the development of their talent with that of a sense of unity of purpose and promotion of healthy attitudes, behavioural development, positive harmony in relationships and ability to discuss/deal with difficult situations such as conflict and abuse. Group leaders will ensure that both genders as well as different religious and caste groups are adequately represented. Through participation in various interspersed group activities, including classes related to school education and the creative arts, and trips to sporting and cultural spaces, the group would be encouraged to work and learn together. Peer-to-peer learning and the similar backgrounds of the coaches/project leaders will ensure a high degree of confidence. Leaders will be identified from within the group to be team coaches/managers, and will be paid a stipend, which would be aspirational for the rest. Through these positive overtures, Kutumb seeks to create a happy, hopeful environment for the children so they may have less inclination to drugs and violence and a greater focus on the future.
