Overview of Project:
Deloitte has strong connections with sport and a passion for developing skilled individuals. We brought these attributes together in our Disability Sport programme. Deloitte has invested £1.7m the programme, which includes two initiatives – Deloitte Parasport* and our support of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), managed by SportsAid. Our programme is match-funded by Government, bringing the total value to £3.4m. TASS allows young talented athletes to choose sport and education. In 2007, 107 athletes received a Deloitte TASS funded bursary. TASS is helping to develop the infrastructure within Higher and Further Education for elite sport. Our investment provides scholarships to talented, high-potential disabled athletes. Athletes receive a package of core sporting services such as coaching, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and lifestyle management. Deloitte’s Disability Sport programme has a sustainable impact on disability sport in the UK and will be a strong legacy following the 2012 Paralympic Games. Deloitte's contribution has been hailed as a 'transformational investment' in disability sport.
