More about Wisemove Productions
Specific social issues of gender inequality and empowerment are central to the work that Wisemove Productions carries out. The United Nations, UNICEF and FIFA, all acknowledge that women the world over but particularly in developing nations, suffer gender discrimination which ultimately results in limiting the life chances of girls and young women.
Football is well known as a vehicle that is used to tackle these issues. Most organisations though target grass roots participants in their development projects by engaging young girls and women at a grass roots level so that social issues can be addressed. Wisemoves chooses to focus on football played at an elite level by African women to demonstrate how the issues of gender inequality and empowerment are being and can be tackled. Wisemove Productions is a unique multi media project that documents the fact that elite African women footballers not only face and challenge issues of gender inequality by exerting the right to play football but they also act as positive and inspirational role models who use football as a positive tool to gain greater independence as women.
