More about WhizzKids United
WhizzKids United (WKU) was developed by Africaid in 2003 in response to the burgeoning HIV epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa. WKU is a comprehensive sexual and reproductive health model designed to help safeguard children and adolescents from the ravages of the disease. WKU ingeniously uses football as an analogy for life and applies the lessons learnt on the pitch throughout its model of care. This includes life skills training, ARV treatment, psycho-social support and the promotion of youth employment, girls empowerment and care of orphans and vulnerable children.
WKU Health Academies provide 'one stop' adolescent services delivering health, education and empowerment interventions through football. WKU works with various partners to scale up its model across Africa. WKU is also a national Assessor in RSA helping other primary health care services receive adolescent service recognition and adopt sport as a tool for the promotion of positive change.
