More about Sports for a healthy Living
SHDO's Sports for health campaign is intended to benefit both rural and urban communities. SHDO's fitness project targets mostly women, youths, school dropouts and the unemployed.
Most of our projects are launched in rural areas. Both males and females above ten years of age from any social or economic background, including the handicapped can take part in our project. As for now, we have more than a hundred participants mostly women and youths taking part in our fitness program.
Obesity, thought to be a problem of developed countries is becoming a major problem is 21st century Africa. The WHO considers obesity as a worldwide epidemic. In Africa, rates of obesity among women are three times those found in men. We target the above mentioned group because they form the most integral part of our society even though they feel left out. There are little or no organizations raising awareness in sports and health in Cameroon.
Today’s youths are tomorrow’s leaders. Targeting youths means building a healthier future for generations. Sports is not just a game, it is a powerful tool to transform the lives of our children.
