More about Sport For All
Sport for All is a multi-sport training programme providing cost-effective, structured coaching, recreational and social programmes to children in disadvantaged areas who live inactive lifestyles or have limited access to quality recreational activities. Not only do the young people benefit from a healthy, active lifestyle, they learn valuable life and coping skills which through them filter back into family and community.
Incorporated into every sport drill and training is a life skill lesson. Following each training session members are addressed by coaches, life skills facilitators and/or a partner organisation like LoveLife, Social Workers, Department of Health, etc, about a specific relevant issue currently affecting the community - from caring, to sharing and even looking after our environment (how to keep the environment clean and safe).
Each Sport For All is a locally owned self-sustaining social franchise business which employs youth coaches. This ‘business in a box’ is much like a commercial franchise with one significant difference – profits are reinvested back into the business to ensure sustainability and to support local development initiatives. The franchise generates income through membership fees, selling sports products and equipment which are often not available in the community and by hosting mass participation events.
