According to the implementation of his Government's policy, the Mayor of the city of Bogotá, has decided to apply a system of improvement to qualify education.
The aim is to close the gap between a qualified private but exclusive educational system and a public system with low-quality, where the practice of sports could play an important role, along with the arts and citizenship education.
So, that is how sports included in the curriculum in the form of daily complementary task to accumulate 40 hours a month in its offer (4 hours of sports, arts and music 4 and 2 in education citizen per week).
Then, three Secretaries : education, culture, and the Institute of sports converge in this project, in the bid to improve education and work for social inclusion.
Achieving inclusion through sport is essential in a city like Bogotá: children say it explicitly (before the programme 40 hours, they did not have the opportunity to practice the wanted sport ).
Children have the possibility of choosing the sport to practice for thus to be perceived as citizens with possibilities and not only limitations.
