More about San Francisco 49ers Foundation & Academy
The mission of the 49ers Foundation is to keep kids “Safe, On Track, and In School.” Recognizing the challenges faced by underresourced youth, since 1996, the 49ers Foundation has supported the 49ers Academy in East Palo Alto with grants; player, alumni, ownership, staff support; 1000s of tickets; mentorships; facility enhancement; and auction donations, creating a unique formula for unparalleled student resources. In 2013, the Foundation facilitated donations of $940,780 to the Academy and $3.3M in overall donations.
The record of the Academy demonstrates that every student can achieve academic success. Through the partnership with the PLAY 60 initiative, the students increase their level of fitness. Participation in sports-related activities has been shown to influence academic excellence.
Over the past 6 years, the Academy has realized an amazing 181 point increase on the Academic Performance Index. The average Ravenswood District school has 29% of their students scoring proficient on state testing while 47% of students at the 49ers Academy are scoring proficient. The 49ers support these efforts through their varied contributions; financially, in-kind and programmatically.
