Social inclusion and equality in the UK has long been the driver of our club. The Swim Club time line began when communities were plagued by misunderstandings, even hatred through the evil stigmas in communities. People were then afraid of changes and felt boxed in a protective cultural mind. It was that identified barrier that brought need for social inclusion. Northern Wave tackled this by meeting the groups across the wider community to build sporting bridges.
The Club success has seen the creation of over 30 sport groups. Our time line proves we share the duty to inspire those who would traditionally be socially excluded. We must run all community sport as effectively as those in the professional arena. We reach out at the entry level of participation but we inspire in equal degree the ability to achieve personal best. This is what drives our sports, transforming lives, improving health and engaging people’s minds, bodies and spirit. What we do today will impress the young people tomorrow. They will learn that they can always do better, go further and reach higher. We are the community of achievers and when the match day comes we must share in playing to win.
