More about Netball Development Trust
The Netball Development Trust netball coaching programme utilises sport to break down gender barriers and create new opportunities for girls and boys to collaborate together, The Trust visits schools in some of the least developed regions of Uganda and India to deliver a comprehensive netball coaching programme at the grassroots. We work with our local partners, NGOs, schools, clubs and netball associations to deliver the programme to over 3250 girls and boys in the five tours so far. Our volunteer coaches from the UK join their local in-country counterparts to coach at schools in Uganda (Mbale & Jinja) and India (Bhubaneswar, Malavli and Ranchi).
The Trust organises a 'train the trainer' programme for older students and teachers that ensures the continuation of the coaching the year around at these schools. The Trust has been supported by the International Netball Federation and England Netball to help create awareness at events and we have also been supported by Adidas/London marathon and Gilbert with t-shirts and netballs. We continue to be a completely self-funded volunteer programme, as our volunteer coaches fundraise for travel costs and collect kit and equipment for delivery to the schools. We do not have any funding source or sponsor.
