Unfortunate delays in the delivery of high quality physical education (since 1999) and under provision of sports facilities, equipment and access to qualified experts in sport and exercise continues to disadvantage South African children with talent in sport to progress into the world of sports and be the best they can be.
It is well known that access to and participation in regular quality activity programmes can influence children’s inter-est to continue to participate physically for life. Sufficient exercise may also health-protect the Learner. However, it is the specific intention of GASP™ to ensure that young-sters receive the best teaching, coaching and resources at the right level.
This Talent Harvesting Initiative enables talent identified Intermediate Phase Learners who are currently engaged in the Move-It, Moving Matters® suite of Programmes, to access and participate in a “noticed child” opportunity designed to connect, track and advance each individual into Sport.
