More about Ex-Offenders as whole-life football coaches
We empower former ex-offenders to become positive role models and father figures as Coaches in their community once they are released from prison.
AIS in Cape Town initially started with our Hope Academy Prison ministry at Drakenstein Prison, which attracts and recruits the top juvenile football players from Prisons around the Western Cape. Ambassadors have experienced a significant drop in the reoffending rate of prisoners who’ve been through the programme when compared with the national average of 85%.
HOWEVER, we realized that once released, these young men require even greater mentorship and assistance to re-adjust to life on the outside – they literally have nothing when released. This is the start of our project – to invest in these young men’s lives through focussing on football, faith, future and continuing to walk the journey of transforming the individual on the outside, which in turn leads to the transformation of their family and their community through them.
We develop ex-offenders to have a positive impact on their communities as Whole-Life coaches. Not just giving them a job, but putting them in influential positions as coaches to impact the next generations.
