More about Encompass International and UK Programmes
Our projects address the issue of fear and hatred between diverse communities, religions and cultures which stems from long-term conflict and mistrust.
Our mission is to educate young people on the nature of identity and conflict by using sporting activities and workshops to breakdown barriers.
Outdoor sporting activities are designed to bring groups of young people together to work as a team and to build confidence.
The outdoor activities are followed up with workshops that give programme participants the chance to explore themes such as identity, community, conflict and stereotypes.
Our focus is on building peace and reconciliation because our charity was founded in the wake of the Bali terrorist bombings of 2002. The founders of Encompass lost their son Daniel in the attack. They realised that when one group is taught to hate another, violence can often occur, but when face to face meetings happen, similarities and understand can be achieved.
