Cricket South Africa Partners With Global Beyond Sport Summit

Cricket South Africa has teamed up with Beyond Sport as an Official Partner, playing an integral role at this year’s Global Beyond Sport Summit, which will take place across various venues in Johannesburg from 28th to 30th October.

The governing body for professional and amateur cricket in South Africa will work with Beyond Sport to explore the ways in which cricket can be used to tackle the key issues that are prevalent in today’s society, through a series of programmes which will be delivered by some of the industry’s most influential leaders within this field.

As part of its support, Cricket South Africa will lead ‘Beyond Cricket’, a half-day programme at the Nike Centre on 29th October at the Summit. Consisting of high-level speakers, deep-dive sessions and a showcase of their hugely successful KFC Mini Cricket development programme, Beyond Cricket will address the role that one of the nation’s most loved sports can play in promoting social change.

Commenting on the partnership, Haroon Lorgat, Chief Executive E of Cricket South Africa said: ‘Cricket South Africa is a firm believer in the values offered by Beyond Sport, and we are pleased to add our backing to this global event through our partnership with Beyond Cricket.’

‘Sport continues to play a leading role in the development and progress of our society, and cricket has an important role to play, especially in South Africa. We look forward to being a part of this year’s Summit and making an ongoing contribution to grassroots sport in South Africa.’

Speakers for the Summit, to be held between 28th and 30th October, will include David Grevemberg, CEO of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and recently appointed CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation, and former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe, a Beyond Sport ambassador, and popular local MC and CEO of Skududu Media, Dan Nicholl, will host the event.

The event will showcase leading sport-for-social-change programmes making a positive impact across the city, and provide an opportunity for sharing of best practice from around the world, with representatives of various international organisations taking part, including UNICEF, Tottenham Hotspur, Boston Red Sox and many more. The event is supported by global partners Barclays, UNICEF and TIME.
