Beyond Sport Summit Continues With Activity Sessions

The Beyond Sport Summit kicked into full gear on Wednesday, with local and international guests involved in various interactive sessions at the Nike Football Training Centre in Soweto.

"This is my home and I'm proud to welcome Beyond Sport to Soweto. This is a great opportunity for the community because there is a lot of promising youth leadership here and we have a chance to change people's lives," said Beyond Sport ambassador Lucas Radebe.

Day two of the three-day annual Summit involved various deep dive and on-field sessions, focussing on various aspects of youth development and the need for social change.

The sessions delved into a wide range of issues, including Employability and Financial Inclusion (hosted by Absa), Children's Rights and Sport (hosted by Unicef), Urban Communities (hosted by the City of Johannesburg), and Accessibility and Inclusion.

The Beyond Cricket and Beyond Health projects, hosted by Cricket SA and Nestle respectively, were also showcased as part of the numerous activities.

"This is a spectacular event. It confirms the power of sport to effect social change," said SA Football Association Development Agency CEO Robin Petersen

"Gatherings like this give us an opportunity to learn from each other in our efforts to use sport for social change."

Day three of the Summit, to be held at Vodacom World on Thursday, will include various panel discussions and talks, as well as the highly anticipated annual Beyond Sport Awards.
