Olympic legend Michael Johnson joins Beyond Sport
Multi-Olympic Gold Medallist and track legend Michael Johnson has joined Beyond Sport as the latest addition to the global Ambassador Panel.
In his new role, Johnson will help spread the word about the opportunities Beyond Sport is aiming to provide, which include recognising, celebrating and supporting the world’s most inspirational projects that use sport as a vehicle for social change. The best 200m and 400m sprinter in the history of the sport of track & field, Johnson has a perfect record of claiming gold medals in every Olympics and World Championships he has competed in. He now uses his experience to help others by working with youth, through corporate motivational speaking, and running his own sports performance companies. “I am pleased to join the other distinguished Ambassadors of Beyond Sport in an effort to help others around the world the opportunity to reach their life goals, as I was able to do in my own athletic career,” Johnson said. Johnson joins a host of other high-profile figures in the world of sport, business, and social entrepreneurship who sit on the Beyond Sport Ambassador Panel, including the Chairman of Beyond Sport and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Among the 16 other ambassadors, all who bring unique experiences and visions to the Beyond Sport initiative, are Lord Coe, Chairman of London 2012; Ron Pundak, CEO of Peres Centre for Peace; and IOC Executive Board Member Nawal El Moutawakel, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Morocco.
