The second wave of winners of the Beyond Sport Awards 2011 was announced on Thursday, with the final six winning projects revealed on the last day of the Beyond Sport Summit.

Beyond Sport, SportAccord, Spirit of Soccer, streetfootballworld and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) have come together to take a huge step forward in addressing child protection all around the world, with the Beyond Sport Summit the venue for the launch of a range of dramatic measures each organisation will take to tackle the exploitation of children around the globe.
The Beyond Sport Summit and Awards, the largest and most influential global gathering in the field of sport and development, officially opened on Monday 5th December in Cape Town, South Africa. Over a four-day period this week, Beyond Sport will welcome some of the most influential and forward-thinking global figures from the worlds of sport, business, politics and philanthropy to Cape Town.
Sport and development figures from around the globe had the chance to see one of the world’s most successful examples of corporate investment in sport as a tool for social change in action on the day before the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards opens in Cape Town.
Didier Drogba, the Chelsea FC and Ivory Coast striker, has been honoured with Beyond Sport's Humanitarian in Sport Award – supported by Virgin Atlantic, following in the footsteps of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Congolese ex-NBA star Dikembe Mutombo and taking receipt of the Award in the week before the Beyond Sport Summit is staged in Africa for the first time.
Research conducted by KantarMedia, with the support of Beyond Sport and SportAccord, has highlighted the need for a re-evaluation of the role of CSR and corporate investment in sport and development by businesses, NGOs and sporting bodies around the world.
Fikile Mbalula, the South African Minister for Sport, will showcase the country's sporting achievement to a prestigious international audience from the worlds of sport, business, politics and philanthropy when he delivers the keynote speech at the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards in Cape Town on Wednesday 7th December.
