Michelle Ford - The Ambassadors
Olympic Gold Medallist, Swimming Australia
Olympic Gold Medalist and dual world record holder, Michelle was the only non-Eastern bloc female swimmer to win a gold medal at the Moscow Olympic Games.
Michelle holds a Masters degree in Physical Education and Bachelors in Business communication from the University of Southern California, LA.
Michelle was an inaugural member of the IOC Athletes Commission and recent Director of the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Sports Foundation and Swimming Australia. She is currently a Director of the Organising Committee for the 2009 world Masters Games in Sydney.
She has worked for the Olympic campaigns bids and been Director of Sport at the University and Ecole Polytechnique of Lausanne Switzerland until 1998 when she took up a position with the Organising Committee for the Sydney 2000 Games. Michelle has been instrumental with her work with the Pacific Island nations, promoting social wellbeing and building a more solid foundation for their sporting and educative organisations. She has served as a member of the Active After-school Communities sub-committee for the Australian Government to encourage children around Australia towards a more active lifestyle.
More recently she has held positions with an International IT Company as PR officer and international relations, and now created a new business for the financial management of sport.
From her experience, Michelle has acquired skills in securing resources and support from private and Government sectors as well as a strong background in governance, promotions and project management. She also has sound understanding of Boards, governments, industry and private sectors operations.
Michelle is a member of the Australian Hall of Fame, and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
