Tamika Catchings - The Ambassadors
WNBA Basketball Player
One of the best all-around players in the WNBA, Tamika Catchings is as active in the community as she is on the court. She began her foundation, Catch the Stars to provide academic and sports related programs for at-risk youth.
She holds Catch the Fever camps and Catch on to Fitness clinics in the off-season and also formed STARS (Sisters Teaching and Reaching Sisters) to help girls find confidence through setting and achieving goals. Her commitment to the nation’s youth is unparalleled in sports.
To encourage kids to follow their dreams she often shares her own experience of working hard despite a hearing impediment and eventually becoming one of the WNBA’s brightest “Stars”.
In 2000, Catchings received the Reynolds Society Achievement Award – awarded annually to an individual who has overcome hearing, vision or voice loss and who has provided inspiration to others.
