Dame Kelly Holmes - The Ambassadors
Olympic Gold Medallist
Dame Kelly Holmes secured her place in British history by becoming the first-ever British Athlete to win both the 800m and 1500m in the 2004 Olympic Games. One of her most successful seasons ever, Kelly's achievements on the track in 2004 set the pace for 25 high profile awards and accolades, among others BBC Sports Personality of the Year, European Athlete of the year, the prestigious title of the Laureus World Sports Woman of the year and in 2005 the ultimate honour of a Damehood by the Queen in the New Years Honours lists.
Having achieved her life-long dream to become Olympic Champion, Kelly continues to strive for excellence in all that she does and was appointed as the National School Sport Champion in 2006 by the Government which has given her the chance to see first hand the immense talent the youth of this country has to offer.
Recognising the need to nurture and develop this talent, Kelly has gone on to set up the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust, which will harness the expertise of retired sporting champions and realise the talent in others.
