Beyond Sport

Barclays Spaces for Sports recognises the power of sport to deliver social change and all its projects go beyond sport to have a lasting impact on communities. As an award-winning community sports sponsorship programme with a focus on social inclusion, Barclays Spaces for Sports is ideally placed to be an Official Partner of Beyond Sport. Barclays Spaces for Sports has since 2004 invested more that £37million ($55 million) to create 200 sustainable sports sites across the UK, benefiting more than half a million people annually. Following its success in the UK Barclays Spaces for Sports expanded globally in 2008 and now has projects in the USA, Zambia, South Africa, Spain and China with more global projects planned for 2011. Given the expertise that we have developed since the programme was launched in 2004, we are excited about sharing our knowledge on a global platform through the Beyond Sport initiative. This will allow us to build on independent research conducted by Manchester Metropolitan University on behalf of Barclays Spaces for Sports, intended to be used as a blueprint for other projects aimed at delivering a lasting legacy for communities.
