Rebuilding Community In Times of Crisis

The Sport Together Fund, delivered by Beyond Sport in partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency was created to leverage the platform of sport to support sport-based development organisations around the world that step up to the challenge when the communities they serve face conflict, harm and insecurity.

Some description

Supporting the needs of Ukrainian refugees and displaced peoples will be the Fund's first focus area. As Europe responds to the Russian invasion in Ukraine, the Fund will provide direct support to community organisations that are using sport to provide vital resources to Ukrainians during and coming out of the crisis.

From immediate response to longer term recovery and reconstruction, resources will be distributed to vetted sports-based community organisations that are helping Ukrainians, especially children, survive, overcome their trauma and rebuild their lives. Support will be given through cash grants and capacity building tools based on the specific needs of the communities.

The Sport Together Fund, delivered by Beyond Sport will be guided by an expert advisory group encompassing specialists in trauma and health, conflict resolution, youth sports and social and community cohesion.

HOW THE SPORT TOGETHER FUND DELIVERED BY BEYOND SPORT WILL WORK:

1. Immediate Response Efforts: The Fund will route financial resources and supplies to trusted community sport organisations engaged in on the ground humanitarian aid efforts.

2. Medium-Term Support: The Fund will provide financial resources to non-profits using sport to support, engage and rebuild communities.

3. Long-Term Support: The Fund will provide grants and strategic guidance to sport-based organisations that are integrating, or seeking to integrate, Ukrainian refugees in their programmes.

Since 2008, Beyond Sport has supported initiatives, generated ideas and built partnerships that purposefully use sport to address the world’s most pressing social issues. Our collective and holistic approach leverages a diverse network of sport for social change innovators, progressive organisations and expertise built up over more than a decade.
