The UNICEF Sport for Development programme focuses on delivering quality and quantity physical education within schools and is implemented in partnership with Sportstec and MRP Foundation. Physical education and school sport can have a vital role in fulfilling the aims of child-friendly schools. Learner access to quality and regular physical activity also provide a perfect platform for further sport for development programmes to be implemented. This, combined with extra-curricular school sport, will go a long way to instill a culture of being physically active. The focus of physical education is primarily on the development of motor skills, while the extra-curricular school sport should focus on the application of motor skills.
