Bloomberg Square Mile Relay goes the 'Extra Mile'

Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, the global 10 mile corporate relay event, has successfully launched its “Extra Mile” program, a new initiative developed between race owner Square Mile Sport and headline sponsor Bloomberg, to both help fund local projects in each city the race is held, and also create a volunteering day for all race participants and Bloomberg employees.

The new initiative reinforces Bloomberg’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which each race takes place and Square Mile Sport’s desire to leave a legacy in each city.

James Hassett, managing director, Square Mile Sport said: “It was amazing to see the initiative come to life this year and see our Series have a tangible and lasting impact in each community we race in. The collective effort of 7500+ runners across all 10 cites will positively impact our global community of race cities, reinforcing Bloomberg’s and our long standing commitment to strengthening and improving lives in the communities where we live and work.”

The most recent Extra Mile service day for the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay took place on 2nd September in Tokyo, where 90 participants helped to build a fun, safe Playground of Hope for children living at a care home in Osio, Kanagawa.
