1st4Sport Level 3 Award in Workforce Mentoring

2nd Chance are launching a brand new level 3 mentoring qualification as part of the workforce development training.

Mentoring is a powerful tool, and a skill used across a wide range of settings. This level 3 qualification provides learners with an introduction to the principles and practice of mentoring a workforce (paid or voluntary). The knowledge and skills gained from this will allow learners to qualify in any sector they have occupational competence in.

The qualification consists of 2 full days classroom based delivery and subsequent field work, resulting in a final work-based assessment. Therefore, learners must be actively mentoring in order to achieve this award. All our tutors involved in delivery are experienced mentors themselves, and able to offer guidance and support throughout the qualification process. The Level 3 Award should be achieved within a maximum of 6 months.

Course Content:

Unit 1 - The Mentoring Role

• Understand own role and responsibilities in relation to mentoring
• Understand ways to identify individual mentoring needs
• Understand techniques to establish and maintain a mentoring relationship
• Understand how to review progress through mentoring

Unit 2 - Organise and undertake supervised mentoring in the workplace

• Plan and organise workplace mentoring sessions, taking care to identify resources to support safe and effective mentoring in the workplace
• Undertake mentoring in the workplace
• Monitor, assess and record learners' progress towards their own development and goals
• Monitor and review own workplace mentoring performance
